so the season 2 finale of october road aired last night on abc. for those of you that don’t watch the show, you should. it needs more support. when it aired behind new grey’s anatomy episodes last year, the ratings were unsurprisingly good, but lately as it airs on monday nights, the ratings have been dropping. there are so many good storylines and loose ends that need to be tied, and i will be pissed if it doesn’t get renewed for a third season.

so to recap, i’ll start with one of my favorite couples, eddie and janet. eddie is the good-looking athletic casanova who’s been with his share of women and now has fallen for the charmingly insecure janet who has never had a boyfriend before. well, last night janet saw eddie kiss his pretty (and thinner) ex-girlfriend, and of course, janet’s insecurities got the best of her. she immediately got drunk and hopped in the sack with the oh-so-annoying rooster, who by the way has 0 chemistry with her. i was yelling at the tv in disgust. anyway, eddie as you can imagine, didn’t take it well and as far as we know, he and janet are over.

nick and hannah–the high school sweethearts who aren’t really over just yet. the subtext and hidden feelings have been going on ever since nick got back to town. too bad hannah’s engaged to nick’s rival, big cat (nickname of course). big cat is a jerk and had his friends jump eddie, which landed him in the hospital. hannah is in denial about it and it’s obvious she still has feelings for nick. meanwhile, we still don’t know who’s the father of her ten-year-old son sam. hannah and eddie have admitted to sleeping together after nick left ten years ago, but nick is still out of the loop on that one. that info will potentially tear he and eddie’s friendship apart. though, i still think nick is the father and i’m a little upset that after 2 seasons, we are still left in the dark.

nick is dating aubrey. the two of them have very little chemistry as a couple. he is either always thinking about hannah or taking her advice over aubrey’s. the relationship is really unfair for the both of them. but, no worries because aubrey kissed nick’s brother last night after he declared his love for her. ronnie (the brother) and aubrey make a lot more sense than nick and hannah, but kissing your guy’s brother is a big no-no and will probably be the driving wedge between the two, which will also catapult nick into the arms of hannah next season when she also finds out about big cat’s indiscretions.

as for ikey, i’m happy to see that he and the guys are getting along again. he slept with his best friend owen’s wife and hasn’t been welcomed by any of his old friends as of late. but after coming to eddie’s aid and taking him to the hospital following the beatdown, the boys embraced him back into the group.

pizza-girl (who yet to be given a name) and physical phil, the shut-in, were downplayed in this episode, and rightfully so. this jam-packed 2-hour finale would have stayed away from the important if they had too many of this couple’s quirky storylines.

oh and in another turn of events in the finale, nick’s father (the commander) has bone marrow cancer. nick was about to leave town, but did the right thing, took hannah’s advice and stayed. too bad for him the shit is about to hit the fan next season…there better be one!
