i am really reluctant to write about the finale of gossip girl, because to be honest, it was disappointing. i mean, the entire first season was completely wiped away. chuck and blair are done. serena and dan are done. nate and vanessa are done. rufus and lily are done. we were left hopeless. granted, next season should be filled with even more drama than the first (if that’s even possible), i just think it may have been a little too far-fetched. i feel like we should have gotten something.

i didn’t want to see serena and dan break up, but it was necessary. their relationship is sort of a snooze-fest so i expected that. but, i was pleasantly surprised that nate basically gave chuck his blessing with blair. and gasp!–chuck actually said he is in love with her. i thought we would at least get these two. but nope. his threatened reputation caused him to choke. nevertheless, i expect there will be a lot of pining after one another next season.

as for nate and vanessa, come on. they were not only boring (even more so than dan and serena), but they were simply incompatible and unrealistic. i just never was invested in them and really don’t care that they broke it off. we aren’t even given a reason and i didn’t find myself looking for one. i think the nate/serena or nate/jenny dynamic is a lot more intriguing. from the looks of the ending, we will have some nate/serena and dan/vanessa action next season. strange if you think about it. dan and vanessa will also be a snoozer. i mean, two friends for that long hooking up? can you say dawson and joey? boring and kinda awkward.

looks like michelle tractenberg will be back next season. whatever. can’t stand the girl, but at least she brings in some new blood. lily and bart’s marriage will last approximately one week. who marries someone while they are in love with someone else? oh yeah, golddiggers. as for jenny, sadly i don’t care all that much. i see her getting bitched around my blair’s mom next season.

anyway, despite my dislike for any pay-off in the finale, the cw was smart. they forced us into needing a next season. damn those tv execs.
