music moments.

as you know, i’m a huge one tree hill fan. in fact, i just watch wayyy too much tv for my own good. nevertheless, i am also a big music junkie and i’ve found out about some of my favorite artists via my overused televisión. seriously, that background music you people usually tune out is actually amazing! a lot of shows have great music (grey’s, dawson’s creek, the oc), but one tree hill is definitely on the top of my list of having the best music on television today. not to mention, they’ve had everyone from jack’s mannequin and michelle branch to tyler hilton and kate voegele on the show (the latter two as actual characters).
so, i decided i would break down my favorite music moments on my fav tv shows. the moments i truly fell in love with a song, or an artist or rediscovered how amazing a band is. i’m starting with one tree hill, because again, the music is phenomenal. so here’s my top 5 music moments of one tree hill’s season 1. it was super hard to pick just 5. i will say season 1 is probably the weakest of all the seasons when it comes to music so stay tuned for the rest of the series!
i would just like to apologize for some of the crappy quality. these aren’t my videos. i did the best i could in finding them.
5. switchfoot: dare you to move.
not just because it’s naley’s first kiss or because this song has been used countless times in other shows and movies, but because i will forever love switchfoot. and this song.
4. dashboard confessional: hands down
ok ok, i am a HUGE dashboard fan from back in like middle school and yeah, i know a lot of people think it’s whiny, but i can’t resist chris carrabba’s voice, especially when you’re going through a tough time. not a surprise that it became like an anthem to the always lonely and frustrated peyton. loved it’s use in the pilot.
3. travis: re-offender.
love this band. love this song. seriously MAKES this moment of awkward tension 10x better.
2. finch: what it is to burn.
granted this is one of my favorite songs in general, it was perfect for the one-on-one showdown between nathan and lucas in the pilot. i’d also like to point out saliva’s “rest in pieces,” which is also another fav of mine that i deem perfect for lucas’ victory moment. (ps. the finch song starts at about 2:30 in the video).
1. gavin degraw: belief.
i’ll admit, i was a late bloomer when it came to gavin degraw. i never got the fuss. i didn’t love the title song, but this song changed my mind. the music is complimented well with the ayn rand quote (big fan of atlas shrugged), the daddy-issues and the famous “your art matters” dialogue. this scene ranks among my top ten moments ever on the show.
yeah yeah, i have a soft spot for leyton.
