looks like us twilight freaks still have 2 years until our lives get considerably less boring. breaking dawn part 2 is officially due out nov 16, 2012. seems like a long time away. hell, the first part won’t even be out until nov 11, 2011. thanks summit. way to make us wait forever.

early eclipse draft leaked.

twilight fans (including myself) were surprised to find a leaked eclipse script circling the net today. i was reluctant about it at first, but had it emailed to me. after reading through it, it seems legit. jackson rathborne’s name is watermarked on every page so i’m assuming he’s to blame. though, he’s not the first cast member to misplace a script.

considering it’s a blue draft, the final film could include or exclude a lot of scenes/dialogue featured in this draft. overall, people can’t be too upset about it. i mean, the film is based on a book. doesn’t leave a lot of surprises. however, i think the the leaked script is pretty good. a good amount of jokes, backstory, love and fighting scenes. i’m happy they left in a lot from the book. in fact, a good portion is word-for-word. so whether you decide to read it or not, we all know we’ll be sitting on those lines at midnight on june 30 no matter what.

guess what i’m doing at midnight tonight? yes, that’s right. i’m being a total twilight nerd and going to see new moon! i went last year at midnight with the same friend i’m dragging with me this year. i think new moon will easily surpass the original. stay tuned for my review!

so i am sick. again. what is it with this weather? but anyway, that left me nice relaxing-in-bed time with the new twilight dvd. after reading a lot about the commentary by director catherine hardwicke, kristen stewart and hottie robert pattinson, i had to take a listen.

thoughts…well first, don’t get your hopes up. you don’t hear much of any insider info about how they filmed scenes etc. very few interesting tidbits. most of the commentary is spent with catherine cracking lame jokes, kristen being incredibly embarrassed and silent, and rob whining about his over-plucked eyebrows and perfectly tressed hair. it was just a bit of a yawner.

upside? robert’s accent. yum. robert’s cute chuckle. yummier. robert’s…ok well, let’s just say robert pattinson is the only good thing about this commentary.

am i wrong?

wow, this blog is so long overdue. i’ve been a little crazed lately with writing assignments, impending holidays and the job hunt, but i couldn’t put this off any longer. oh yes, we must discuss twilight.

i saw the movie at the thursday midnight screening (and on sunday that same weekend) and i had mixed feelings. i thought it was really good and definitely a movie i could watch over and over. but with that, obviously came some hesitation. i thought kristen stewart was a good choice physically. she’s an average normal looking girl and i can’t help but think that had they picked a more seasoned and overly-gorgeous actress, it wouldn’t have had the same effect. the dynamic of the average bella paired with the beautiful edward would have been thrown off. so for that, i liked her. her acting on the other hand bothered me at some points. i thought she studdered and blinked a little too much. bella is a naturally clumsy and awkward kind of gal, but i think stewart played it a little over-the-top. the hospital scene at the end comes to mind. when she is yelling at edward. it made me cringe.

as for robert pattinson, i can’t help but love him. i mean, he’s playing edward cullen for christ’s sake. the guy every girl in the world wants as a boyfriend. physically, he was exactly how i pictured edward. his pale skin, red lips and mysterious vibe just fit in with the image i conjured. i spent most of the movie just staring in awe at him. so gorgeous. as for his acting, i thought it was decent. i know a lot of people took issue with his accent and his facial expressions, but for me, the strangely-off accent and overly expressive reactions fit. edward is a vampire. if he had acted more human in his reactions, it wouldn’t have come off as well in my opinion. so all in all, robert pattinson fulfilled my expectations of edward cullen. and then some.

as for other aspects of the movie, i thought it was rushed of course. they left out a lot, but it is a movie so they didn’t have too much choice. the cullens were cast well. at first i was hesitant with some of them. i wasn’t a big fan of elizabeth reaser (esme cullen) from her stint on grey’s anatomy, but she did fine. also, i was wary about peter facinelli as carlisle (mike dexter from can’t hardly wait!), but he impressed me. i was actually hoping for more scenes with the cullen family. definitely more alice scenes!

i am excited for the sequel, but also nervous it won’t be as good. new moon doesn’t feature much of edward and while i thought taylor lautner did an okay job as jacob, i’m not sure he can hold his own next movie. he has a big part and i don’t know, i just imagined jacob a little differently.

props to the soundtrack and score, both of which were amazing. i’m actually in the middle of reading eclipse, so i’ll get back to you with my review of that!
